Citizen Police Academy

The Citizen Police Academy was established as a bridge between the Police Department and the citizens we serve.  The 13 week program will expose citizens of Oxford to the daily activities of law enforcement.  The classes include the history of law enforcement, legal aspects, firearm safety, driver safety, patrol operations, and communications.  In addition to these classes, each division of the department has a block of instruction to overview the duties of that division.

 

The first and current Citizen Police Academy started March 7, 2005 with 10 participants.  The goal is to sponsor two classes per year with the next beginning in the fall.  If you are interested in attending a class, please contact Captain Kevin Stark or Beth Rasberry.
